After class today I was walking home, I was passing a young Greek woman (about my age) on the sidewalk and she turned to me and in an almost frazzled state, started talking to me in Greek, asking me questions. I looked at her and apologized and told her that I do not understand and that I speak English (I said that all in Greek mind you). She then said "Okay English!" And then (in English) asked me if I knew how to get to the Church in Prilmas Platia, or Prilmas Square. I was so excited because I actually knew where that was! I was able to give her directions, telling her to continue down Imitou, and that she would eventually run into it on her right hand side. At that moment it finally hit me, I LIVE IN ATHENS! I am able to tell a Greek where to go and how to get around Pantragi. I have been here long enough to actually know where things are and to give directions, even to the locals! It proved to me that I can do it, I AM doing it! That I can call this my "home," at least for the next couple months!

Like a Virgin Moment
Here at Arcadia University we have these things called "Like a Virgin Moments (LaV)." Its where we experience something or do something for the first time that is an achievement, simply because we did it here in Greece. Today I experience a LaV moment that I am particularly proud of!
