γιαγιά και παππούς

I was so blessed to get a little piece of home this weekend!  Grandma and Grandpa made the long trip out and spent the entire weekend with me here in Athens!  They first toured Italy and northern Greece before their last stop here in Athens.  It was so great seeing them and showing them around this city, and I got to show off everything I've learned in the last month and a half!
Unfortunately it was raining almost the entire time they were out here, but we made it work.  They went up to the Acropolis on Friday with their tour guide then afterwards I met them at their hotel where we grabbed lunch and headed to the Acropolis Museum.  Since I've been studying a lot of the artifacts there, I was able to be their little tour guide. It was fun being able to share all I learned while over here!  After the museum we headed back to the hotel, dried off from the rain and went and got dinner, in full Greek fashion.  I was even able to order for all of us in Greek!

The next day we got up super early to take a day cruise to Poros, Hydra and  Aegina.  Again it was raining, but it was still a great day.  It was good to get out of the city and see the islands.  Its a whole different lifestyle over there!  So laid back and small little shops and cafes.  It was beautiful!  I really enjoyed seeing some more of the islands!  It was awesome!

Today I took Grandma and Grandpa to Pantgrati and showed them my little neighborhood.  They got to see my school and apartment.  We even stopped at the delicious bakery and got a little treat before meeting up with some friends and showing them "our spot," a little cafe in the square next to us.  I am glad that they got to see where I live and meet some of my friends.  I think seeing where I live and the area put there minds to ease about me living here in Greece.  I am so glad that they were able to come visit and that I was able to show them around the city!  It was a little piece of home that I was so glad to have!
